My guests today were Arlon Bennett and Alice Leon. Arlon and Alice are participating in a Nashville-style songwriters-in-the-round session that is being held at the Turning Point in Piermont, NY (Kevin Briody will also participate.) Arlon and Alice shared their songs live in our studio.
We paid tribute to Barry Finn, a New England based folk singer who recently passed away. Barry had an amazing voice and a love for songs of the sea. He sang for the love of singing and was one of the few individuals I have met that truly could be called a "folk singer".
New and highly recommended music shared today included Anne Hills "Points of View", David Mallett "Alright Now", Caroline Herring "Golden Apples of the Sun", Pete Seeger "Live in '65"(an extended segment was devoted to this recording), and we ended with a preview of the new "re-issue" of the Hudson River Sloop Singers "Broad Old River 2".
